This paper provides an overview of relations between the US and South Africa as well as the state of politics, the economy and trade in the latter. In terms of South Africa's political system, it analyzes the political parties, including the ANC; President Zuma's agenda; and governance challenges facing the country such as corruption, crime, and labor unrest. It also examines South Africa in a global economic context; the country's economic policies; and its trade and investment relations.
