This report analyzes the ideology, rhetoric and actions of newly-emerged jihadist groups in the wake of the Arab Spring. The author finds that in countries that underwent regime change during the Arab Spring (i.e., Tunisia, Egypt and Libya), jihadi groups have struggled to clearly define their ideological framework. Moreover, they are characterized more by the propaganda of jihad than its delivery. The concluding section of the report discusses the situation in Syria and suggests the civil war could have restored jihadist credibility, were not for the divisions that have divided their supporters.
