This paper discusses how the integration and adaptation of human security into the state security policy could be an important approach to international crisis management and peacekeeping. It outlines how the absence of key human security principles has contributed to the failure of the whole security paradigm in Syria, and how lessons could be drawn on how to rebuild the security system on the basis of human security principles not only in Syria, but also in the Arab world at large.
