This paper examines France’s foreign policy approach to the economy and security of Sub-Saharan Africa. The author argues that the approach is unsustainable on its own and requires outside support. He contends that France is more willing than ever to bring in outside actors to support its role in the region. This, he concludes, is likely to place Africa higher up on the European Security and Defence Policy agenda and may, in turn, push Poland to initiate a strategic reflection of its own interests on the continent.
