This commentary focuses on the existing bilateral disputes in the Balkans and how they are 1) undermining the region's efforts to integrate into the EU, 2) fueling the risk of renewed regional instability, and 3) eroding the credibility of the EU's enlargement strategy. Given these pressing problems, the commentary concludes with a number of recommendations on how to adapt and enhance EU policies in the Balkans.
