This report talks about the process that grants citizenship to lawful permanent residents in the US. More specifically, it reviews the rights and obligations that come with naturalization in the US; examines the naturalization process itself; discusses trends regarding who, among the roughly 1 million immigrants entering the United States each year, ultimately becomes a US citizen; and looks at a number of naturalization-related policy issues.
