This report provides background on the evolving political, security, and humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic (CAR), which began when a fractious rebel coalition seized control of the central government in March 2013. The report also describes US policy responses to the crisis, UN Security Council deliberations over the crisis, as well as matters of concern for US Congress.
