In light of the February 2014 referendum results in Switzerland calling for a restriction on the numbers of EU citizens allowed to work in the country, this commentary argues that it is time for a comprehensive discussion about the future of EU-Swiss relations. The author says that the results might present the EU with an opportunity to press for a comprehensive framework agreement with Switzerland that would simplify the existing regime and provide for a uniform institutional set-up.
