This commentary discusses some of the consequences of a further escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine over Moscow's activities with regard to the Crimean Peninsula for Moscow, Kiev, the US and the EU. The author believes that despite the rapid escalation of the situation, there is still a slim chance that cooler heads may prevail, which would allow for a return to peaceful normality.
