In this interview, Cecilia Malmström, who is the EC's Commissioner for Home Affairs reflects on the Common European Asylum System, which EU members adopted in 2013. (The system is designed to ensure that asylum seekers are treated equally, regardless of the country that happens to host them.) She also discusses the continuing challenges Europe faces in the asylum/migration areas, including Switzerland’s recent challenge to the free movement of peoples principle.
