This paper analyzes the impact South Asian diaspora groups have on their countries of origin. In particular, the author looks the role the Diaspora communities have played in the expansion of the region's middle class; the contribution the expatriate community is making to thinking on economic and social development; and the effect of the interaction between the middle classes of diaspora and those of the countries of their origin.
