This brief discusses the prospects of success for the "Geneva 2" round of talks between the warring parties in the Syrian civil war. The author argues that Geneva 2 is unlikely to reach any significant breakthrough due to two factors: 1) the parties lack any reciprocal trust, and 2) their respective demands reflect entirely opposite positions.
