This commentary examines the possibility of a rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia. The authors highlight the convergence of both countries’ interests on a number of regional issues - including their perspectives on Iran - as well as the remaining obstacles to their collaboration. They argue that the two countries’ common interests do not have the power to lead to open cooperation and normal relations, but that they can strengthen covert coordination and understandings between them. They also emphasize the contribution of even this form of relationship to regional stability.
