This transcript of four short speeches looks at the rise of the United Kingdom Independent Party (UKIP). The first speaker, Joe Twyman, talks about the party’s place in the British opinion polls as well as public opinion on the EU across Europe. Secondly, academic Matthew Goodwin examines the party’s roots and its supporters in the broader context of British politics. Next, Nigel Farage, the leader of the UKIP, speaks about his motivations, policies and voter base. Finally, conservative MP Laura Sandys discusses the impact of the UKIP on her party as well as the practicality of its style of politics.
