This paper looks at the political and economic landscape the Democratic Republic of Congo and the evolution of conflict, particularly in the eastern part of the country. It also discusses the humanitarian situation in the country and US policy towards it, focusing particularly on trade and investment, foreign assistance, and the role played by US Congress.
