This commentary argues that the deployment of the OSCE's Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine in 2014 represents a defining moment for the organization. The author says that through this deployment the OSCE has the opportunity to reaffirm its role as a platform for dialogue between East and West and prove its usefulness and relevance in facilitating the peaceful settlement of disputes and mediation.
