This bulletin provides a quick overview of Japanese domestic politics in the run up to President Obama's visit to the country in 2014, with a particular focus on the popularity of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his attempt to revise Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, which would enable Japan to exercise the right of collective self defense.
