This commentary discusses the Australian Prime Minister’s visit to Japan, South Korea and China in April 2014, which, it argues, successfully made up for previous diplomatic tensions. The author states that along with the sealing of agreements on trade as well as security cooperation during the visits, Australia’s positive inroads in Northeast Asia should bode well for President Barack Obama as he embarks on his own trip to the region.
