This report analyzes Malaysia's relations with the US. The author contends that the relationship between the United States and Malaysia is a complex one. Indeed, he suggests that bilateral ties between the two countries are considerably closer than often is acknowledged, but lingering mistrust and political sensitivities in Malaysia constrain the establishment of a deeper strategic relationship.
