This commentary discusses the state of US-Saudi relations in the context of President Obama's visit to Saudi Arabia in March 2014. The authors argue that the aim of the visit was to restore Riyadh's confidence in Washington in response to the kingdom’s concerns over US conduct on regional issues, particularly the Iranian nuclear project and the situation in Syria. Overall, they suggest that the visit did not lead to any changes in the state of the relationship between the two countries.
