This paper discusses how the growing dependence of Eurasian states on space-based services, combined with the emergence and proliferation of space-enabled weapons, have led to tensions over protecting the integrity and safety of national space assets. The paper also argues that as activities in space increase, the need for a normative framework to mitigate the man-made threats to space security is becoming more and more apparent. It looks at some of the international efforts to come up with such a framework, but which ones are the most viable?
