This paper examines how effectively or not the UN finances its peacekeeping operations. In doing so, it first describes the fiscal system currently in place and the weaknesses it has. The latter include 1) the way personnel and equipment costs are reimbursed to participating countries, and 2) the structural obstacles that prevent the UN from fully 'incentivizing' different contributions from states. The paper then closes by providing recommendations on how the UN might solve the latter two problems.
