This paper focuses on the ongoing violence in Sudan and South Sudan and explores the ways in which local peace processes might succeed now and in the future. More specifically, it examines the local methods used in the past, discusses why they stopped working, and then provides a number of recommendations on how to improve local communications in the interests of peace.
