This paper looks at the voting behavior of Finnish MEPs to trace the relationship between national and European politics in the European Parliament, specifically from 2009–2014. It concludes that MEPs tend to vote in line with their national party groups, particularly when the issues have little or no links to domestic politics. However, party cohesion between the two groups can break down over issues of significant national importance.
