This paper discusses the level of trust people have in the European Parliament (EP) as well as the levels of voter participation in the EP elections and compares them to those of EU national parliaments and the US Congress. The author argues that participation rates and levels of trust appear to be satisfactory when compared to those of the US Congress and that although voting participation in EP elections is lower than in EU national elections, on average, the EP still enjoys more trust than EU national parliaments.
