This commentary contends that it is not quite accurate to characterize the success of eurosceptic parties at the 2014 European Parliament elections as a rejection of Europe. Instead, the author argues that root causes of the increased vote for eurosceptic and other protest parties include the general dissatisfaction with the state of the economy in Europe and dysfunctional national political systems.
