Following the political crisis and protests that led to the removal of President Yanukovych from power in Ukraine in early 2014, this paper examines the potential for the occurrence of something similar in Russia and Belarus. The authors first examine the factors that led to the political crisis in Ukraine and then look at the nature of political protests and the state of civil society in Russia and Belarus.
