This paper examines an idea Poland put forth to the European Commission in May 2014 for a European energy union to improve energy security on the continent and the reasons why a similar proposal put forth by the country in 2006, failed. The author also outlines the different ways in which Poland can attempt to get its proposal accepted in the EU and the challenges it may face in this lobbying process.
