This report examines the rivalries between Turkey, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt as they vie for leadership in a Middle East that continues to be defined by geopolitical flux. It concludes that because of the structural problems and impediments all these ambitious powers face, American leadership will remain indispensable in the region.
