This brief examines the legality of some of the measures that could be adopted by Israel in the West Bank in retaliation for the abduction of three teenagers in June 2014. In particular, it examines the legal difficulties that could arise from Israel's potential expulsion of Hamas members from the West Bank and the demolition of terrorists’ homes. The author argues that these actions would be difficult to defend in the framework of international law and could therefore come at a serious price for Israel.
