In light if the hostilities between Israel and Hamas which stared in July 2014, this brief discusses the conditions under which a ceasefire could be agreed between the two sides. The author also examines what the two sides and Egypt as a key mediator between them should do in order to increase the chances of a ceasefire turning into a more lasting peace.
