This policy brief discusses the two major options Israel has to end the 2014 military campaign in Gaza: a unilateral ceasefire and a multilateral agreement. It analyzes the merits and demerits of the two strategies and concludes that a multilateral agreement within an international system is the preferred option as it would foster stability in the long-term and improve Israel’s standing in the international community. This option, however, would also require Israel to offer policy concessions and engage in the economic development of the Gaza Strip.
