This paper discusses the lack of a dedicated oversight and accountability mechanisms in South Africa for overseeing the country's prosecutors. The author then reviews a number of prosecutorial accountability mechanisms drawing on real world examples. He assesses these mechanisms and explores their applicability to the South African context.
