This commentary discusses the discourse on Egyptian social networks following Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s rise to power in Egypt after the 2013 military coup which ousted President Mohamad Morsi. According to the author, el-Sisi’s victory was largely met with enthusiasm on Egypt's social networks. While the middle-class holds a positive outlook towards el-Sisi bringing stability and economic growth back to Egypt after a turbulent revolution, the author also identifies the significant political challenges and risks el-Sisi will face in making necessary reforms.
