This brief discusses the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa as well as its impact on health and governance both in the region and internationally. The authors also examine what the Ebola crisis demonstrates about the shortcomings of the way international cooperation is organized and offer recommendations on what action the international community should undertake to enable an effective response to the outbreak.
