This commentary discusses the efforts countries in Southeast Asia have made to develop nuclear power. The authors also examine the challenges this development faces as a result of skills shortages and safety and regulatory loopholes. They also underline the importance of ASEAN member states collectively ensuring nuclear security, safety and safeguards (3S).
