This paper uses a gender perspective to analyze the potential humanitarian consequences of the use of nuclear weapons. In general, the author argues that there are both sex-specific health impacts pertaining to the biological effects of radiation, as well as gender-specific ones resulting from existing cultural and social roles and gender-based stereotypes.
