This paper discusses the significance of Russia's sale of the S-300VM air defense system to Egypt, which is reported to have occurred in November 2014. In particular, the author discusses what may have motivated Russia to sell such a sophisticated air defense system to Egypt as well as the implications this transaction could have for Israel.
