This paper discusses how Palestine's decision to seek a UN Security Council resolution for the recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital has led to intense diplomatic effort by Tel Aviv to help ensure a US veto of the resolution. The authors also examine how this move by Palestine, and relations with the US, could affect the Israeli national elections set to take place on March 17th, 2015.
