This is a transcript of an interview with Abdullah Gül, who was president of Turkey between 2007 and 2014, on the implications of developments in the Middle East - including the rise of the Islamic State - and Turkey’s role in the region. He also discusses 1) Turkish-Russian relations following Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine; and 2) Turkey’s energy security and gas resources in the eastern Mediterranean.
