This paper examines the part that issues related to Palestine and the Palestinian struggle for independence play in Sri Lankan politics, with a particular focus on the country's January 2015 presidential elections. The author also examines the implications of Maithripala Sirisena's victory in the 2015 elections for Israel suggesting that it could signal an improvement in relations between Tel-Aviv and Colombo.
