This paper examines parliamentary power in the governance of the defense sector in Georgia. In particular, the report examines 1) the role of the Georgian parliament and its place in the country's political system; 2) parliamentary oversight of the security and defense sector though its plenary sessions; 3) the capacities of parliamentary committees and their ability to make the security sector institutions more accountable and transparent; and 4) how representative the parliament is. The authors then provide recommendations on how the Georgian parliament can improve its oversight of the security sector.
