Using a study of five ongoing mining operations, this report examines resource exploitation in Afghanistan's mining sector and the impact it has on the political economy and internal conflict in the country. It then gives recommendations on what the various key stakeholders engaged in, or affected by, the exploitation of mineral resources in the country can do to help improve the regulation of the mining sector and ensure that revenues due to the government are neither lost nor diverted into private pockets.
