With Nigeria’s upcoming presidential elections looming in the background, this report 1) assesses the ethno-regional foundations of the country’s two national political parties (the All Progressive Congress Party and the Peoples’ Democratic Party), and 2) discusses the relationship between religious identity and internal conflict within the country.
