This paper examines ASEAN's proposed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a free trade agreement (FTA) between the organization's members and the states with which it has existing FTAs. More specifically, the author looks at 1) the potential impact that the RCEP could have on the economic system in the Asia-Pacific; and 2) the factors in the continuing negotiations that could undermine the RCEP from having a significant impact on the region.
