This paper discusses Russia-Egypt relations in light of an arms agreement that was rumored to be signed between the two countries in November 2013 in which Cairo may have purchased around 3 billion dollars worth of military equipment from Moscow. The author contends that while the Russia-Egypt relationship is improving, Cairo is unlikely to further improve its ties with Moscow as this might disrupt its strategic alliance with the US, on which Cairo relies for weapons and civilian aid packages.
