This is a transcript of a panel discussion on the problem of bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics and the threat this poses to global health security. The discussants also consider 1) what actions could be taken by governments, health practitioners and the pharmaceutical sector to restrict the spread of resistant infections; and 2) what economic and business approaches could help to tackle anti-microbial resistance by encouraging the appropriate use of antibiotics and by incentivizing innovation in drug development.
