This brief provides five examples of innovative peacebuilding and statebuilding at the community and local levels across Africa. The studies focus on 1) the role of women in local governance and statebuilding in Egypt; 2) youth-driven peacebuilding initiatives in Burundi; 3) the privileging of statebuilding and local governance over organized crime in Mali; 4) solving election-related violence in Zimbabwe; and 5) adopting new technologies to facilitate a wider peace in Kenya.
