This paper examines the role of interregional cooperation in the EU-Russian relationship, with a particular focus on Northern Europe and Northwestern Russia.The author provides an overview of the current relationship between the European Union and Russia and discusses the regional component in EU's policy. The paper concludes that there are major differences between Russia and the EU with regard to future integration policies in Northern Europe.
