This research paper explores the history of Finnish national identity in the context of Finnish foreign policy. The author characterizes the perceptions of Finnish identity as ambiguous and analyzes their possible developments. The research also examines the influence of the political developments with the neighboring countries of Finland as well as the EU and NATO.
